Start with toothpaste that does not have fluoride in it as most kids will not understand the concept of spitting out the toothpaste right away. It’s important to teach your child how to brush firmly, so that food particles are removed but gentle enough where their gums will not become damaged.

Teach your child how to floss because they will get into the habit of doing it early on, which is great for their gums. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles in between teeth and hard-to-reach areas, and you can start doing this as soon as your child has more than one tooth.
