Meet The Team

Dr. Carly Hamilton
Dr. Carly Hamilton was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. After graduating, she moved to Winnipeg – which has been home ever since! Dr. Carly took both her undergraduate and dental degrees at the University of Manitoba. She spent over four years practicing in rural Manitoba before purchasing Dr. Stephen Lee’s practice in downtown Winnipeg. Dr. Carly considers herself to be very lucky in finding such a great office to call her own with such a committed patient base.
Dr. Carly is very passionate about staying on the leading edge of dentistry and invests many hours into continuing education each year. It is Dr. Carly’s mission to work with patients who have dental anxieties that have hindered them in attaining regular dental care. Dr. Carly is also very passionate about all things health and wellness. Outside of the office, Dr. Carly loves to travel with her husband and toddler Rowan as well as spending time at the family cabin at Clear Lake.

Dr. Kian Somarin
Dr. Kian Somarin spent most of his childhood in Brandon, Manitoba. He graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor of Science and later from the University of Manitoba with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He is fluent in both English and Farsi. Dr. Kian loves interacting with his patients and seeing how he can provide them with the best dental care and address all of their concerns. He is known for his calm, kind and outgoing demeanour and loves all aspects of dentistry. Dr. Kian is an avid traveller – next time you see him in the office, make sure to ask him about his recent travels!

Dr. Edwin Moran
Dr. Ed is the most recent dentist to join us at Upper Fort Dental. Originally from El Salvador, Dr. Ed moved with his family to Winnipeg in 1985, completing his dentistry degree at the University of Manitoba in 2006. After commuting to various offices in southern Manitoba, including Carman and Steinbach over the years, Dr. Ed is looking forward to practicing in Winnipeg. Dr. Ed is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Ed immediately puts his patients at ease with his calming and humorous personality. When he is not at work, Dr. Ed has a broad range of hobbies – he is very artistic, loves gardening and is a tremendous baker!

Karen, Dental Assistant
Karen combines skill, adaptability, and a passion for patient care, making her a valuable part of our dental team. After earning her Level II Dental Assisting Diploma from CDI College, Karen joined Upper Fort Dental in 2018. Her problem-solving skills and approachable demeanor allow her to confidently address challenges and ensure patients receive the best care possible.
Her adventurous spirit and warm personality shine through in her interactions both inside and outside the office. Originally from the Philippines, Karen embraces life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She loves traveling and exploring new cuisines, finding joy in discovering different cultures and experiences.

Hannah, Dental Hygienist
Since entering the dental field in 2015, Hannah has been dedicated to providing nonjudgmental care, helping even the most anxious patients feel comfortable and supported. Hannah joined the Upper Fort Dental team in 2018 and her personable nature and commitment to thoughtful care have allowed her to foster meaningful connections with our patients. Outside of work, Hannah enjoys staying active and spending time with her family and friends. A busy wife and mom of two girls, she loves watching and playing sports and finding balance through moments of connection and fun.

Marie, Reception
Marie has been a part of the Upper Fort Dental team since 2022 and she takes pride in greeting each patient with a smile, creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone who enters our office. Her dedication to supporting both patients and her team reflects her commitment to professional excellence.
Outside of work, Marie enjoys a variety of activities that keep her energized and inspired. She attends church daily, finds joy in reading and watching movies, and loves spending time outdoors exploring nature. Currently learning how to play squash, she approaches new challenges with enthusiasm and curiosity, balancing her drive for personal growth with a live of relaxation and discovery.

Sarah-Lynn, Reception
Sarah-Lynn joined Upper Fort Dental in 2023 and she brings warmth and positivity to every patient interaction, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment they walk through the door. She takes pride in setting a calm and reassuring tone for each visit, ensuring that patients feel comfortable and supported. Whether assisting with scheduling, answering questions, or offering a friendly conversation, she finds fulfillment in making each experience as seamless as possible. Her goal is to make visits to the clinic stress-free and enjoyable for everyone.
Outside of work, Sarah-Lynn has a passion for travel, exploring new cultures, and trying different cuisines. She embraces the joy of immersing herself in new experiences and exploring different cultures, which led her to live in Thailand for 2.5 years. She enjoys supporting local businesses, discovering new restaurants and cafés, and spending time outdoors, especially during the summer months camping and enjoying the warm weather.

Abby, Dental Hygienist
Abby entered the dental field in 2015, and has built her career through hands-on experience first as a Dental Assistant and later as a Dental Hygienist. She joined the UFD team in 2021. Abby’s bubbly spirit, light-hearted humor, and commitment to easing dental anxiety transform routine cleanings into genuinely positive experiences, and she never misses a chance to share a laugh with those she serves.
Outside of the office, Abby embraces the joys of new motherhood and cherishes every moment as a girl mom. She finds happiness in balancing her busy professional life with the sweet adventure of raising her daughter, surrounded by the warmth and encouragement of a supportive family.

Gurleen, Dental Hygienist
Gurleen brings warmth and empathy to every appointment, helping our patients feel comfortable and cared for from the moment they sit down. After completing her dental hygiene education at the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene with honours, she stepped into the field eager to make a difference. She enjoys connecting with our patients, taking the time to chat before each appointment to better understand their needs and build trust. Outside of work, Gurleen enjoys traveling, trying new foods, exploring unfamiliar places, and spending time with her large, close-knit family and friends.
